The antimicrobial effect of silver against a broad spectrum of pathogens has been known and used for thousands of years, but only very recently has modern science acknowledged this fact.
The "silver effect" has been debated controversially for many years in alternative medicine, conventional medicine and the pharmaceutical industry alike and now more and more applications of silver are being employed in health care, personal care and water and air purification. Most experts will accept that it is silver in a colloidal state that has the greatest capacity of delivering the silver effect to the human body. The new Colloidal Silver 25 has been designed to fulfill a specific objective: Its point of absorption is mainly the intestinal tract, which Colloidal Silver 10 taken undiluted in small quantities does not reach:

was first developed by Living Energy Systems in the 1990’s to be absorbed straight into the blood stream when held under the tongue for 30 seconds or into the epidermis when applied topically.
Its silver concentration of 10 ppm (parts per million) is comparatively low, but the very small silver particle size of 0.001-0.002 micron means that in a dose of 5 ml there are more than 200 thousand elemental silver particles present, which are on average made up from 12-16 ionized silver atoms each, thus creating a very potent silver effect.

was first developed in 2005 and the point of absorption is designed to be mainly the intestinal tract. We have therefore increased its silver concentration to 25 ppm with a particle size of 0.001-0.005 micron to reduce the amounts absorbed in the mouth and at the same time increase the amounts that survive the passage through the stomach: In argentum plus Colloidal Silver 25 approximately 20 % of the silver particles are in the 0.001-0.002 micron range which can be absorbed into the blood stream while in the mouth, but 80% are in the 0.002-0.005 micron range most of which will reach the intestines to be absorbed there.

It is in fact their size which determines the efficacy and safety of the silver particles in a true colloid of water and silver and as such is the most important information you need to find out about, when choosing any colloidal silver product:
Particles too small (< 0.001 micron / single atom size as in silver salts, silver oxide and silver chloride for instance) could accumulate in the body causing side effects (argyria); particles too big (>0.005 micron) cannot be utilized by the body and will be largely useless.

The silver concentration in argentum plus Colloidal Silver 10 and 25 is only of secondary importance to their effectiveness: While the silver content of the larger 0.002-0.005 micron sized particle in argentum plus Colloidal Silver 25 is higher (each particle containing between 16 and 40 ionized silver atoms), it still only has the same 200 thousand particles present in a 5 ml dose, that argentum plus Colloidal Silver 10 has and although it is potentially stronger because of more ionized silver atoms per particle, we estimate that the absorption rate of argentum plus Colloidal Silver 25 is very similar to argentum plus Colloidal Silver 10: The nominal ppm value may be very different, yet the potential silver effect is not.

This illustrates well the difficulties in evaluating colloidal silver products on the market today:

• Higher silver concentration is not necessarily more effective, everything depends on its bio-availability and delivery mechanism.
• Scientific evidence suggests that almost all pathogens die off in the presence of silver, but that means that the silver has to be able to get there first!
